Not verified · A comparable IT power capacity has not been verified in the cited sources. Cabinet counts and construction spending are not converted into electricity demand.

The first phase is a future development in the operator timeline. Neither its construction status nor its target opening date proves a current grid connection, power draw or operating service. No energy comparison is shown without a verified capacity boundary.

How the comparison works

Capacity is a power rating in megawatts (MW). Energy is power multiplied by time: MW × 1,000 × 24 hours × assumed load fraction gives kilowatt-hours (kWh) per day.

Divide that daily energy by 2,500 ÷ 365 to compare it with a typical household’s average daily electricity use. We use Ofgem’s GB single-rate medium benchmark, effective 1 July 2026. It covers electricity only, not gas, and is not a measurement of homes in this area. Real households and daily demand vary.

What public data can tell us

DESNZ publishes meter-based estimates for groups of data centres, with some areas combined to avoid disclosure. Those totals cannot be assigned to individual facilities. We need site-specific, dated energy disclosures or an authorised meter feed before showing actual site consumption.
